Sodium Taeniolite, Na-TAE, a swelling trioctahedral fluormica, has been synthesized and studied using thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction,\u00a0scanning electron microscopy\u00a0and infrared and solid state\u00a0NMR\u00a0spectroscopies. The results indicated the formation of a swelling 2:1\u00a0phyllosilicate\u00a0with actual layer charge lower than the nominal one.
